Social Friday hangouts in the Global Lounge

These sessions do exactly what they say on the tin – students gather in the Global Lounge to hangout together! Find out what to expect below…

 

Taster sessions will be running throughout welcome week, see events below for timings. Regular sessions will start from Friday 27 September and will continue every Friday during term time from 3 to 4 pm in the Global Lounge.

Hangouts are fun sessions run by student volunteers for other students – a time to come together to chat, plan weekend activities and share ideas. If you are interested in volunteering, please find out more here.

Each Friday we will have a different theme to the session:

  • Board Games
  • Indoor Sports Lounge
  • Indoor or Outdoor Picnic
  • Art & Chill
Alongside our classic board game selection, we have some brand new games in the Lounge for you to try out! Including Herd Mentality, Obama Llama, Pictomania, Sounds Fishy and many more. Get yourself a hot drink, make friends and enjoy the Board Game Cafe vibes.
These sessions will feature our new table tennis tables, magnetic darts board, soda pong, air hockey and giant jenga. You don't want to miss this one!
Our next session will be a Picnic, either outside or inside depending on the weather. If you're heading outside we'll provide you with a hamper filled with crisps, sandwiches, scones, juice and fruit, along with some classic garden games like croquet and our giant deck of cards.

Prefer staying inside? You’ll get the same tasty picnic items along with a gingham tablecloth, a tea set, and a cake stand. Plus, we’ve got a resource folder packed with ideas for classic indoor games like charades and “forehead detective” to keep the fun going.

In this session you'll be provided with different art supplies such as oil pastels, watercolours, sketch pads and scrapbooking materials. The rest is up to your creative freedom!
