CANCELLED: Travel the World: the hidden beauty of Northeast India

Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled because the speaker has fallen ill and is unable to present at the event. We are looking at rescheduling the event for next term.

Be inspired, learn about other cultures and enjoy free refreshments and traditional treats at the Global Lounge’s Travel the World events! Every Tuesday from 1 pm to 2 pm during term time.

On 2 November, we’ll be hearing about the hidden beauty of Northeast India!

You will have the unique opportunity to be guided through Northeast India with our speaker, 2nd Year Law student Aryan Mandal. Aryan’s passion for reading, public speaking and travelling will become apparent in his presentation about his home country.

Remote North East India has been cut off from the rest of the world for a long time, and so it is one of the rare places in the world where you can meet authentic tribal people who live a very different way of life. Northeast India is one of the most culturally diverse areas of the world. It is home to 200 tribes including the fascinating opium smoking, headhunter tribes in Nagaland and the facially tattooed, sun and moon worshipping Apatani tribe in Ziro Valley, Arunachal Pradesh. Come along and join Aryan to decode the Northeast and the diverse beauty it possesses, both culturally and otherwise.

Not only will you get to learn something new at this event, but you’ll get to meet new people and enjoy some refreshments after the talk.
