Explore the world from the comfort of the Global Lounge, using our virtual reality headsets! If you’d like to discover different countries, landscapes and cultures without ever leaving Bristol, why not come along to one of our drop-in virtual reality (VR) sessions?
No need to book, just turn up on Mondays and Fridays in termtime between 2:30 and 4:30 pm, sign up at our friendly reception desk, and start your VR experience.
We have many exciting 360° videos for you to choose from. Whether you fancy touring Tokyo, floating along a Venetian canal or flying with paragliders above Iraq, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Each VR session lasts 15 minutes. Sessions will be offered on a first-come, first served basis. Please read our health and safety guidance in the tab below before attending.

Restrictions on use of VR headsets
VR headsets are immersive technologies that require an unimpaired sense of motion and balance. Unfortunately, if you have a pre-existing condition or if your senses are temporarily impaired, using the headset can produce adverse effects, such as feelings of seasickness. To avoid these effects, please consider the the following. You might be at higher risk of injury or discomfort if you:
1. are pregnant
2. are elderly
3. have a pre-existing binocular vision abnormality, psychiatric disorder, or suffer from a heart condition or other serious medical condition
4. experience seizures
5. have a pacemaker, hearing aid or other implanted medical device (due to the headset’s magnetic radio waves).
So, proceed with caution. If in doubt, we advise that you consult a physician beforehand. You should not use the headset if you are:
1. suffering from symptoms of Covid-19
2. suffering from any contagious conditions, infections, or diseases, particularly of the eyes, skin, or scalp (like pink eye)
3. over-tired or in need of sleep
4. under the influence of alcohol or drugs
6. experiencing digestive problems
7. under emotional stress or anxiety
8. suffering from cold, flu, headaches, migraines, or earaches.
These factors might risk your own wellbeing, or others.
