Virtual Language Café – 3 November
Wednesday 3 November at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
Virtual Language Café
Language Café is an informal language learning event, encouraging fun and friendly conversations. We welcome students and staff of all language levels and none.
What can you expect?
This virtual event presents a wonderful opportunity to improve your language skills, learn about other cultures, and make new friends from around the world, without leaving your room!
Language Café is run by volunteers who are either native or fluent speakers of many wonderful languages. Each week we introduce a new theme such as travel, festive traditions, music, and food so that every time you return you learn something new.
Every language has its own conversation group and where possible we divide groups by the language level from beginner to intermediate+. We tend to keep our conversation groups small so that everyone gets a chance to speak.
How to join us online
Our virtual event will be taking place on Remo at 1:00-2:00 PM every Wednesday until 10 November . The event link will be announced nearer the time.
What languages are available today?
Language Café is home to over 20 languages. The number of languages varies depending on the availability of our fantastic volunteers. The list of available languages will be updated here nearer the time. If you wish to volunteer with us and offer your language skills, please see our volunteering page for more information.
Virtual events are being currently trialled and may be cancelled if there is not enough demand or interest.
If you experience any technical difficulties, try a different browser or use your phone. You can message us at one of the welcome desks during the event for more help. As our event is hosted on Remo, you will be asked to register on their platform before you can proceed with Language Café. You can test your audio and video settings here in advance.
- Watch this tutorial video on how to use Remo as an event attendee.
- Don’t forget to introduce yourself when you join your conversation group.
- We encourage everyone to use video-calling if that is possible.
