Did you know that Somali is the third most commonly spoken language in Bristol?

Join the newly formed Somali Society as they collaborate with the Global Lounge to host their very first Somali Culture Day.

As part of the Black History Month, this fun-packed event provides a great chance to get a flavour of the rich Somali culture, meet new people from around the world, and enjoy a fun, relaxed evening in the comfort of the Lounge.

As well as tucking into some tasty traditional food, you can enjoy a range of exciting activities, including:

  • a quiz and traditional Somali games
  • a Somali calligraphy workshop and exploration of the Somali language
  • Somali spoken word poetry
  • a traditional Somali tea ‘shaax’ tasting
  • free Somali finger food such as sambuus, puff puff and buur
  • an interactive presentation about Somalia, their culture and their local community here in Bristol
  • a traditional clothing workshop where you will learn about culturally significant garments… you’ll even have the chance to try them on!
