Virtual Language Café

Language Café is an informal language learning event, encouraging fun and friendly conversations.  Our café is open once a week during term time. We welcome students and staff of all language levels and none.

 

What can you expect?

This virtual event presents a wonderful opportunity to improve your language skills, learn about other cultures, and make new friends from around the world, without leaving your room!

 

How to join us online

Please click here to join our event at 15:00-16:30 every Wednesday from October 14 until December 16 during the first teaching block.

Languages available today: Arabic (all levels), Bengali (all levels), English (Intermediate +), Cantonese (all levels), Finnish (all levels), French (beginner), German (beginner), German (intermediate +), Greek (beginner), Hindi (all levels), Hungarian (all levels), Indonesian (all levels), Italian (all levels), Japanese (beginner), Japanese (intermediate +), Korean (beginner), Malay (beginner), Mandarin (beginner), Mandarin (intermediate +), Portuguese (all levels), Romanian (all levels), Russian (intermediate +), Spanish (beginner), Spanish (intermediate +), Swedish (all levels)

Helpful tips

  • We encourage you to run a quick test 5 minutes in advance.
  • Don’t forget to introduce yourself when you join your conversation group.
  • We encourage everyone to use video-calling if that is possible.

 

Our success story

Since its launch in November 2019, Language Café has been a success story with a couple of hundred language learners, 85 volunteers and 16 languages, including Arabic, Spanish, Russian, English, German, Korean, Mandarin, British Sign Language, Greek, Portuguese, Japanese, Bulgarian, Tibetan, Hindu, French, and Italian. So join us and be part of this exciting programme.
